Description


This magnificent stream of sulphurous water comes from a cave called Cave of the Sardine, forming a beautiful waterfall about 12 m high, unfortunately we can not admire in all its magnitude, due to difficult access to it´s bottom, where they form small pools.
This cave holds a traditional festival called "The fishing of the Sardine" which is celebrated during Lent, the event begins with the transfer of participants from the village of Tapijulapa to the cave of the sardine , which is located 1 km from the once home of former governor of Tabasco, Tomas Garrido.
At the party to dance the dance of sardine, accompanied by music and drum faut, and once the ceremony is thrown into the river a preparation of poison, which numbs the sardines to be much easier to catch.

How to get there?


If parts of Villahermosa must travel 60 km on the road to Tacotalpa via Jalpa de Mendez and, before reaching Tacotalpa you deviate by Tapijulapa road and travel 30 km more.
Once Tapijulapa need for boarding a boat up the river Oxolotán, which will take you to Villa Luz in just 5 minutes. The place where you landed, you are to walk 1.5 km to reach the home of former governor Garrido, Villa Luz.

The house
